What a weekend!

Well, folks, it was a 2 wrist-band weekend, so you know it was fun.  On Friday I stayed in, but on Saturday I went to Greenville, where I went to a baby shower and had some fun walking around the city (it was my first time there). I came back to Ashvegas for roller derby (wristband #1), then out to Rosetta's for a late night dinner.  On Sunday, Chris and I went to The Big Crafty, which was called The Big Love Fest this time.  There, we drank in the beautiful weather along with a few beers (wristband #2), watched/heard live music, browsed the craft stands, I ate a delicious chocolate cupcake with strawberry icing (I gave Chris one bite), and then we made a wonderful last minute decision to eat at Limones.  My goodness that was a good decision.  Their food is to die for, and we ended our meal by splitting a real treat: organic mexican coffee with tequila, Kahlua, and house-made, thick whipped cream. Mmmmm!

giraffe chair

Here's a little project I did for one of the girls' baby shower gifts.  3/4 of the girls are preggers and the other is getting married! What a year!

It's a giraffe, but I keep thinking it's a camel.  It's bad when the person who made it can't tell what it is! Oh well, it's got spunk!

THE WEATHER IS GORGEOUS

I'm in love.

With the temperature.

And with Chris, of course. =]

And with the fact that 3 of my friends are preggers!

And with the idea that in less than a week I'll be Miami with my hubby, my 2 adorable nieces
(and future adorable nephew!), my brother and sister-in-law, and my bro-in-law + his future wifey.  Sweet!!
Looking forward to things makes me think of this quote.

But back to the present moment - the temperature
is 77 degrees, there is a breeze, and
I'm on the balcony looking at
a pretty tree.

Happiness.

Road Trip!

This weekend I am renting a car and going on a little road trip!

I am staying with my mom in a hotel for two nights, and attending a bridal shower for one of the girls.  I am excited!  First, a 1/2 day of school, then a 4 1/2 hour car ride, made easier by listening to The Mysterious Benedict Society audio book, then a weekend with my mom and the girls.  What could be better?  And Chris has 2 friends visiting him here in Asheville, so we both have fun things planned.
I also plan on stopping 1/2 way to shop for new jeans!  Yay!  I'm thinking about stepping into the world of skinny jeans... should I do it?!  Maybe I'll compromise and try straight.  Eek!
PS: On Sunday, when I get back with the car, we are going to Home Depot to get gardening stuff for the balcony.  So excited!!

The Girls

I have a wonderful group of girlfriends from college.  There are 5 of us, and we keep in touch by emailing each other ...a lot!  Usually there are several emails a day, and on some days there can be 15 or 20 or 30! We don't all live close to each other, and we haven't all stayed in one place.  When we first started our email loop, some of us were single and some had boyfriends. Now we are all married or engaged, 2/5 are pregnant, all of us have different jobs, all of us have moved at least once, and all of us have had ups and downs. We've really gone through a lot together, even though some of us are far apart.  Lately I've been trying to figure out a way to archive all of our emails - and therefore all the things that have happened to us in the past 1/2 decade.  It is overwhelming!  In the last year alone, I have 158 email chains from the group, and all of those have multiple (usually dozens of) emails.  Holy moly this is going to be a big job... but worth it. =]

Here are a few good quotes from emails I have archived so far:

Thanks just resigned today. Felt so good.

They were shocked!

jeannie i'm glad you're not moving to walnut if you don't want to!  i miss you...when will i see you again???

I love how boys have no problem sleeping at all no matter what.....I could be breathing fire over on my side and B could be snoring, no problem.

I love this little pearl ring!!

I will make cupcakes for you until my fingers bleed.  Then I will put bandaids on and make some more.

Hope everyone has faaaaaaaaabulous Mondays :)

I tried on some dresses today. Talk about overwhelming!  One that I really liked is #1460 from this designer: http://www.mikaellabridal.com/
This is hard work!

then on thursday i'm taking my group fitness instructor certification exam.  yikes!  i think it will be ok, but you never know.

OH i'm so glad we can see each other on Sat!

And this last one, I feel, is good advice all the time:

There is zero parking at my place, so you will need to park at the Safeway right next door.  In that parking lot, park as close to Dairy Queen as possible.

Buttercream Frosting

Is there anything better than buttercream frosting?
I don't like to eat a lot of frosting, but there is something amazingly amazing about buttercream frosting.
It is love on a cupcake.
For our wedding, the girls made our wedding cake: chocolate-chocolate-chip cupcakes with buttercream frosting.
Does anything sound better than that?  Don't I have the best girlfriends ever?
